Youth Explore Trades Sampler

(In partnership with Nicola Valley Institute of Technology)

The Youth EXPLORE Trades Sampler offered at NVIT provides hands-on training and a work experience opportunity in a variety of in-demand careers. School District 58 works in partnership with NVIT to deliver this exploration program in linear block from September to June. After completion of this program, a student can apply to a Foundation program through our Youth Train in Trades, or an apprenticeship through our Youth Work In Trades Program. 

Program elements may include:

• Employability Skills for Trades
• Organizing Work for Trades Projects
• Use of Tools and Equipment for Trades Fields
• Introduction to Welding
• Worksite Safety
• Job Site Visits
• Guest Speakers
• Introduction to Carpentry
• Introduction to Electrical Theory and Safety
• Introduction to the Culinary Arts
• Introduction to Welding

Students will receive 12 PSI (Post Secondary Institution)
