Dear Parents/Guardians and Families,

RE:  Emergency and Inclement Weather

General Information:

During an emergency, the district’s top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. We will work closely with local municipalities, emergency services, and the Ministry of Education to assess the situation, gather accurate information, and implement appropriate safety protocols.

Inclement Weather / Staff Shortages:

The district will make every effort to determine school closures caused by inclement weather or staff shortages by 7:00 a.m. If adverse road conditions or staffing shortages occur, it may be necessary to cancel bus routes or, in severe weather, close schools entirely. Any updates or announcements about these disruptions will be posted on the School District’s website and Facebook page. In the event of a bus route cancellation, families will also receive an automated phone call notification.

While we hope that emergencies and severe weather conditions will not require the cancellation of bus routes or the closure of schools, it is important to be prepared. We encourage all caregivers to visit our District website (www.nssd.ca) for the most up-to-date information. Additionally, we ask that families ensure their contact information is accurate and up to date with their child’s school to support timely communication.

Thank you, and if you have any questions, please contact the School Board Office at 250-378-5161.

Sincerely,
